The short version
Gods & Myths is a reading site. There are no accounts, no sign-up forms, no comments, no newsletter and no advertising. We do not set cookies and we do not sell or share personal data.
Analytics and performance
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and Vercel Speed Insights to measure page-load performance. Both are cookieless: they do not store identifiers in your browser and do not follow you across other websites. They record aggregate data such as the page visited, referrer, country, browser, operating system and device type.
We also use Aptabase, a privacy-first analytics service hosted in the EU, to count a few anonymous events: pages viewed, clicks on App Store links (which app and which part of the page), and finished quizzes with their result. Aptabase is cookieless, stores no personal data and does not identify or track individual visitors.
Like any web host, Vercel processes technical request data (such as IP addresses) to deliver pages and protect the service.
Stored in your browser
If you use the light/dark theme switch, your choice is saved in your browser’s localStorage under the key “theme” so the site remembers it. It never leaves your device, and clearing your browser’s site data removes it.
Quizzes, the family trees and the name generator run entirely in your browser. Your answers and results are not stored or sent anywhere, and they are gone when you leave the page.
App Store information
Details about the Pantheon app (name, description, version) are fetched by our server from Apple’s public App Store lookup service. Your browser is not involved and nothing about you is sent to Apple by that request.
Links to the App Store include a campaign label (for example “a_<slug>”) that tells us which kind of page a visit came from. It contains no personal information. Once you open the App Store, Apple’s own privacy policy applies.
Links to other sites
Articles link to external sources such as Project Gutenberg and the App Store. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
Changes
If what the site does with data changes, this page changes with it, and the date below is updated.
